Mark Carney, an experienced former central bank boss, was sworn in on Friday as Canada’s new prime minister. Carney, who is replacing Justin Trudeau, has vowed to take a firm stance against US President Donald Trump who has made a series of threats against Canada, including a bid to make it the “51st state” of the United States.
