Harshvardhan Rane REJECTS Sanam Teri Kasam sequel with Mawra Hocane post her Operation Sindoor comment: ‘If there is any…’

Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane made headlines recently with a hit re-release of their film Sanam Teri Kasam in February this year. While fans have been excited about the film’s sequel, Harshvardhan has ‘respectfully’ declined to work with the same cast after Pakistani actor Mawra made a remark on Operation Sindoor.

Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra came together on the big screens with a romantic tragedy film titled Sanam Teri Kasam. The film, released in 2016, was a commercial flop at the box office, earning only Rs 9 crore during its initial theatrical run.

However, upon high demand for the re-release of the film, Sanam Teri Kasam was re-released in theatres in February this year. It gained massive love from people from around the country and collected around Rs 40 crore at the box office in India.

The film became one of the highest-grossing re-released films in India. After which, the makers of Sanam Teri Kasam announced its sequel. However, amid the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, Harshvardhan declines to work on the sequel if the makers go ahead with the same cast.

Harshvardhan’s statement read, While I am grateful for the experience however as things stand, and after reading the direct comments made about my country, I have made a decision to respectfully decline to be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam part 2 if there is any possibility of the previous cast being repeated.

On April 22, Pahalgam was shaken by the terrorist attacks that led to the sad demise of 26 lives in the valley. In response to that, on May 7, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor, specifically targeting nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Fawad Khan to Mahira Khan, and Hania Aamir, many Pakistani celebrities came in support of Pakistan and condemned Operation Sindoor. Sanam Teri Kasam lead heroine, Mawra Hocane also critized India’s operation and called it a cowardly attack.
