A flood watch is in effect from 6 p.m. Saturday through 6 p.m. Sunday, according to a National Weather Service weather alert.

Flooding caused by excessive rainfall and snowmelt is possible in western Virginia, including Augusta County. Excessive runoff could result in the flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations, the agency said.

Visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for flood safety and preparedness information, and monitor upcoming forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
