Popular presenter Vernon Kay has opened up on his peculiar appearance during a recent episode of The One Show and revealed being ‘told off’ by Alex Jones
Vernon Kay has addressed the reason for his unusual complexion during yesterday’s (March 25) episode of The One Show.
Appearing on his usual spot on BBC Radio 2 this morning, Vernon humorously told Scott Mills what was behind his rather out-of-the-ordinary complexion during his appearance on The One Show.
He said: “Fake tan was on peak yesterday. If I’d removed my sweater, there would have been a very significant V into the nape of my neck.”
Continuing his self-deprecation, he expanded on his tanning disaster: “It looks like someone’s made some gravy and just thrown a spoon full of it at my face.”
And, besides his fake tanning mishap, Vernon also fell victim to a somewhat awkward moment, as he prepared himself to read out some iPad messages to yesterday’s guests, Jimmy Carr and Severance director Ben Stiller.
But, thanks to the eagle eyes of Alex, she soon interjected as she noticed that the Radio 2 star was holding the device upside down, with Vernon politely responding “fair enough” as he acknowledged the mistake.
Meanwhile, referring to his slight error during the show, he took a humorous tone as he said: “I love the fact that Alex told me off,” before adding his affection for the presenter saying that she’s “fab”.
Filling in on the latest edition of the hit BBC show, Vernon has cemented himself as one of the organisation’s most respected presenters in recent years.
In the early stages of his career, the 50-year-old made a name for himself presenting a whole host of children’s TV programmes including on channels such as CBBC and ITV.
However, after landing one of his first major presenting roles, on All Star Family Fortunes back in 2006, his career has gone from strength to strength.
He has gone on to host a number of the nation’s most well-loved shows including guest appearances on ITV’s This Morning as well as The One Show.
And, while he’s made a name for himself in TV, many will also be familiar with Vernon thanks to his daily mid-morning show on BBC Radio 2.
His appointment came after broadcasting legend Ken Bruce decided to leave the station back in 2023.
